Admission and Cost
Admission Procedures
Since Harmony School has a limited enrollment,
all prospective students are first placed on a waiting list. As openings
occur students are chosen for interviewing based upon their individual
situation and how well their age, gender and background fit into the
school's needs for diversity. Students are chosen for these interviews
regardless of their family's ability to pay tuition.
At the elementary level, two teachers interview
the prospective students and their parents. The decision on admission
is based on the results of the interview.
At the middle and high school levels, students are first interviewed
by both students and teachers. Then the teachers speak with the parents.
At the high school, the final step is for the student body and teachers
to vote on admission.
Early Childhood Program (ECP) enrollment does
not include an interview process.
Cost
For
grades 1-12, tution is 8% of the family's gross monthly
income to a maximum of $550/month
or $6600/year, or 12%
for two children and 16% for three
or more. Because Harmony has such a strong commitment to serving students
who otherwise could not afford a personalized, independent school
education,
80% of the students are on subsidies. Scholarship money is generated
through grants and contributions. Tuition for international students
is $15,000/year.
ECP has a diffterent tuition
structure. Fees are $525/month for full-time and $325/month for half-time
(there are a very limited number of part-time slots available). If
8%
of your family's gross monthly income is more than $525, you
would pay
that amount, up to a maximum of $675/month.
