If you have been eager for spring to arrive, imagine how the Botany students feel as they have waited all semester to get outdoors and grow their gardens! In the meantime, the botanists have planted beds in Hilltop’s hoop-houses, started seeds for Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, and thawed out some soil to analyze for nutrients and composition. The chemists have entered the wonderful world of stoichiometry and are busy counting molecules. Cells & Genes has focused on cell division, looking at gametogenesis, embryonic development and the structure of chromosomal DNA. They also investigated various “cures” for cancer from carrots to chemotherapy.
